Homotoxicolgy and Its Role in Healing: Autism, PANS/PANDAS, Lyme and the New Epidemic of Childhood Diseases
Lauren Lee Stone, Ph.D., M.S., HHP, BCIH

March 8 @ 7:00 PM - 9:00 PM
Dr. Capanna-Hodge’s Office, 898 Ethan Allen Highway, Suite 6, Ridgefield, CT

According to some of the latest statistics from the CDC, 1 in 50 children has autism, 1 in 8 children ahs asthma, 1 in 5 children has allergic eczema, and at least 1 in 10 children has ADHD/ADD. Our children are in crisis – but what can we do to help them? How do we get beyond the very limited Western model of treating/suppressing the symptom without addressing the root cause?  Homotoxicology is a healing modality, which combines classical homeopathic principles, with mainstream, allopathic therapeutics. Based on the premise that the body has an innate ability to heal, homotoxicolgy treats disease as a function of toxic overload. Healing occurs from the inside out and thus necessarily founded on the need to eliminate toxicity as the root cause of disease. Healing with homotoxicology involves using a combination of homeopathic and herbal remedies to effectively eliminate toxins, while stimulating the body’s capacity to heal itself. In this presentation, Lauren will give a brief introduction on homotoxicolgy and discuss the therapeutic benefits of using customized homeopathics in combination with specific herbals in the treatment of Autism, Lyme and PANS/PANDAS.

Cell Danger Response - Transforming Devastating Chronic Illnesses into Treatable Disorders
Nancy O’Hara, MD, MPH

April 19 @ 7:00 PM - 9:00 PM
Dr. Capanna-Hodge’s Office, 898 Ethan Allen Highway, Suite 6, Ridgefield, CT

All of our children are gifts, especially the 1 in 68 diagnosed with autism and the 1 in 6 diagnosed with ADHD or learning disabilities.  These children, with autism or ADHD, may be wrapped in many layers of wrapping paper.  It is our job to try to remove several or all of those layers to get at the true gift of the child inside.  Dr. O’Hara will examine the assessment and treatment of children with autism and how we can effectively treat the medical - metabolic, gastrointestinal, and immunologic issues such as PANS/PANDAS that our children with autism face.  She will look at the Cell Danger Response, mitochondrial dysfunction, oxidative stress and other theories of autism that explain the autism behaviors we see and how we can effectively assess and treat these children.
